I’m still waiting!!.... I have come to the conclusion after four slow weeks of trying various different methods (new and old) of trying to get the baby out, that none of them actually work and they are all old wives' tales. They have made no difference to when this baby actually decides to make his big entrance!
I was due on the 22nd December so he is now a few days late. I am fairly comfortable thank goodness and have had a fantastic few days at home with all of my family although I am quite big now and quite nervous about the birth!
All my family were due to arrive last week but sadly my older sister Charlie and her husband Alistair could not make it down to Gloucestershire for Christmas. Alistair was diagnosed with shingles the day before they were due to set off which we thought it could be a risk to a baby so they had to stay away :-( We have missed them so much but we all hope their quieter Christmas in Yorkshire together was fun. Next year we will spend it all together I promise.
Mum, Dad and Sarah all managed to get here though through the awful weather and have been amazing ever since! Wow it’s such a treat being so spoilt and looked after all day long, I am going to miss them hugely when they all finally go home after New Year.
Choc’s older brother Richard and his wife Andrea came to see us all today with their only child Connor for the afternoon. After a huge delicious Turkey Pie lunch kindly made by my clever mum, we all went for a snowy walk with the doggies and did a little bit of sledging in the sheep field opposite us, it was great fun .
I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and Boxing Day, although like us you probably missed all the racing action from Kempton Park today. The cold and snow came in and has put a huge full stop to most of the racing world and all its meetings over the past two weeks. It’s such a shame as Choc is back in full swing now and was really looking forward to a busy Christmas period riding some great horses in great races. On the up side, he is at home with me and has had a proper Christmas for once.
He is also here for when we need to go to hospital in our 4x4. Our village is like Lapland at the moment, it has been knee-deep in snow for a week or longer. Even the village farmer is ready and waiting with his tractor and snow plough to dig us out if he needs too.
Hopefully this time in two weeks there will be a new addition to our family and racing will be back on!!
Have a great New Year's whatever you may be doing.
