Lingfield Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club are pleased to announce that they have been crowed the Silver Award for Large Hotel of the Year and the Gold Award for Sports Tourism venue of the year at the recent Tourism South East “Beautiful South Awards For Excellence” 2011.
Entry to these awards is of great importance to Lingfield Park as they act as an indicator to the general public of the quality of the attraction and hotel that they are visiting. This is in addition to rewarding companies and staff for their hard work, focusing on customer experience.
More than 100 entries across 16 categories within the Tourism South East area were put through a rigorous judging process. Factors taken into account included most importantly the quality of service on offer to visitors and value for money. Other aspects scrutinised included commitment to staff training and development, the environment and accessibility. Judges also examined the entries websites to consider how well they attracted visitors firstly to the area, and secondly to the individual business.
Lingfield Park were lucky enough to be shortlisted for two categories – the Large Hotel/Townhouse and Sport Tourism and found ourselves up against some outstanding competition.
The Large Hotel/Townhouse category was for hotels with more than 35 bedrooms and a recognised current quality assessment. The Sport Tourism category was diverse including businesses that offer visitors an active or participative sports activity, and those that provide an opportunity to watch sports as a spectator. Entrants had to be able to provide clear evidence that their sports tourism product attracts visitors to the area. The addition of the Lingfield Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club in May 2010, made Lingfield Park’s entry really stand out in this category.
Lingfield Park Managing Director Paul Shrimpton commented, “Winning the Beautiful South Awards for Excellence enables us to demonstrate to our team that the tremendous efforts and great care they put into their work ensure we deliver an outstanding experience for visitors and are appreciated and recognised.
"We are proud to go on and represent the South East at the national Enjoy England awards and, of course, are delighted to be named as Large Hotel of the year as well as Sports Tourism venue of the year.
"The award will help us increase awareness of our venue not only as a hotel but also as a sporting venue, locally, nationally and regionally. It will also contribute to maintaining staff morale, helping us strive to improve our standards still further.”
