The clothes and designers are obviously the star attraction at London Fashion Week, but to help them shine they do need the expert and creative help of the makeup artist and of course the hair stylist.

Here we check out the hairstyle created by Wella Professionals for the Mary Katrantzou catwalk show and her Spring/Summer 2013 collection. A collection of which was inspired by bank notes and postage stamps around the world.
The Look: Graphic Couture
The hair is pulled tightly away from the face with all the volume at the back of the head as a top layer of hair covers a hidden bun and so creates an elongated side profile. This allowed the audience to clearly notice the model’s clean dewy makeup and thick dramatic navy eyeliner. As she passed by the aerodynamics of the side profile came into view and when she turned away, the intricacy of the bun was shown.

Eugene Souleiman, The Global Creative director of Wella Professionals, said:
‘The Mary Katrantzou collection was slick, graphic and very conceptual and I wanted to create an elegant, almost couture-like style to bring a sense of sharpness into the look. There is a tension in the hairstyle, lifting the face and giving the girls beautiful bone structure, adding richness and refinement to the look’
Get the Look

Spray Wella Professionals Create Character Texturizing Spray into the roots of the hair and blow dry with a soft bristled brush, pulling the hair back and away from the face.
Section off the back of the head from ear to ear across the centre of the crown and clip the front hair out of the way
Tie the section at the back of the head into a ponytail and backcomb small sections of the ponytail to create volume. Then roll into a bun and pin in place on the head and secure with a net for added security.
Section the remaining hair into three; two side panels and one in the centre.
Take one section and make it as sleek and tight as possible. Spray Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight Shine Spray to give a brilliant sheen and to help the brush glide through the hair
Spray the hair with Wella Professionals Dynamic Fix Finishing Spray close to the roots so that the hair is wet and create tension in the hair by brushing and pulling the hair back at the same time.
Repeat on the other side section
Tie them into place over the bun
Take the top section and working from the crown towards the front of the head, use the same technique alternating Shimmer Delight with Dynamic Fix Finishing Spray.

The Colour: Power Blonde
Wella Professionals Global Creative Director for Colour, Josh Wood, used ILLUMINA COLOR to create what he has termed the ‘Power Blonde’ which aimed for tones of ‘cool linen’.
This is definitely a hairstyle that would work for a day at the races - with or without a hat.
