Soon the Christmas festivities will begin (if they haven’t already) and so it’s time to add more sparkle to your evening make-up. And to make it easier, most of the cosmetic brands have brought out limited edition Christmas collections.
Chanel’s Christmas look is a marriage between light and dark. You have the deep dark sultry tones of the dark red lipstick, eyeliner and nail lacquer similar to their iconic shade Rouge Noir. But this time Creative Director Peter Philips has reinterpreted the colour by adding light catching gold and bronzes. The face powder, blusher and eye shadows also shimmer and sparkle with gold.
The collection is made up of:
|
Poudre Universelle Libre in Reverie A natural finish loose powder with a sheer matt finish obtained by the use of ultra-fine talc and silica microspheres: Price £34. Reverie is a dreamy beige shade with a blend of very fine gold and silver glitter. This is the new Christmas shade but won’t suit every complexion. Take advice from your Chanel consultant as there are six other shades. They may not shimmer with gold and silver but you have the rest of the collection to help you with that. |

Joues Contraste in Star Dust Powder blush with integrated brush made of natural hair: Price £31. Star Dust is a faint hint of pink sparkling with iridescent gold for a true festive blush. Normally pink shades are for the cool complexions and those of you with warmer complexions are best opting for the peachy shades. However, in this case the pink is barely there – it’s more about the sparkle.

Ombres Contraste Duo: Nuit-Claire A classic duo of black with a light shimmering effect and an iridescent beige: Price £30. Apply the beige as a base to help smooth and light up the eyelid. Dab onto the inner corner of the eye to add a touch of luminosity and enlarge the eye. The dark shade is for the outer corner of the eye to sculpt and give depth if needed. |

All powders are presented as a replica of the Chanel suit button with a quilted effect and the Chanel’s double C logo stamped on the top. They look almost too good to use – almost! Price £43. |

Illusion d’Ombre: Apparence A powder cream of luminous shades which can create an intense metallic look or if used lightly can create a mother of pearl effect over the eyes: Price £23. Apparence is an ultra shimmering mix of gold and bronze inspired by precious metals.

Rouge Allure Velvet – l’Impatiente This lipstick is matte with a luminous texture from the ultra thin mother of pearl particles: Price £25. The shade L’Impatiente is an intense version of the classic ‘rouge noir’ and makes a great dramatic evening statement when worn. If the shade of the lipstick is too intense for your own colouring, then the collection has softer shades in their new lip glosses: Price £21. |

Levres Scintillantes: Allegorie, Mystery and Intrigue Allegorie: a delicate pink with a silver sheen These lip glosses can be worn alone or just in the centre of the lips to act as a highlight over your lipstick. |

Le Vernis: Malice An odd name to call a nail colour you may say, but remember it’s in French and the French word ‘Malice’ means mischief. This colour is dark red with a black sheen or is it a black hue with red glitter? Very mischievous hey? Price £18. |
