Iconic milliner, Louis Mariette, will be swapping hats for his running shoes this year, when he takes part in the Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 13th April to help raise money and awareness for The Children’s Trust, Tadworth.

Louis, renowned for his sensational bespoke headpieces and a luxury range of ready-to-wear hats, attracts a celebrity clientele including Rihanna, Dannii Minogue, Kate Moss and Lady Gaga to name but a few.

As Vice-President, this will be the fifth time that Louis has run in the world famous event for The Children’s Trust, the UK’s leading charity for children with a brain injury. Louis has also notched up other marathons over the years, including Barcelona, New York, Paris, Dublin and Edinburgh, so is no stranger to taking on a running challenge. This year, Louis hopes to complete the London marathon in four hours, thirty minutes.

Born in Malawi, Louis Mariette grew up in Botswana and Swaziland. With nature as his playground, Louis would spend endless hours exploring the flora and fauna, collecting everything from semi precious stones, seedpods and cactus flowers, to beads and trimmings from local tribes.

During his childhood travels, Louis experienced the contrasting world and bright lights of London and was especially inspired by its glamorous cafe society. This, combined with the incredible palette of colours and textures found within the wildlife of Africa, became the central force of Louis’ inspiration which has been brought to life through the exotic elegance of his designs today.

Louis is a self-taught milliner and has been breaking boundaries with his designs for over eight years.
Louis Mariette was the Official Milliner of the 2011 Investec Derby and co-presented on BBC 300 Year Royal Ascot Celebrations.

He was one of the celebrity judges on the panel on Season Five of Living TV’s ‘Britain’s Next Top Model, alongside Lisa Snowdon and Huggy Ragnarsson.

Louis Mariette designed one of his most spectacular creations for Harrods – the ‘Chapeau d’ Amour’ – a £1.5 million hat made from a rare weave of platinum fabric, studded with diamonds.
