As his son Mathew Freud said at his recent funeral, “it was the writing that brought us closest to the man”, and Freud on Course, by Clement Freud, is a marvellous testament to his acerbic wit, appetite for the absurd and oblique take on the world.  

The book will be published by Racing Post Books on 5 June ahead of the tribute race, the Investec Sir Clement Freud Memorial Stakes, to be run in his name on Sat 7 June, Derby Day.  

Although the book will be centred around Clement Freud’s racing interest, it most definitely isn't restricted to racing and covers many of the regular Freudian themes: food, old-age, gambling and laughter. The attached introduction to the book by Brough Scott, very aptly sums up the book's content and soul - very much Clement Freud. 

Freud on Course also includes many of the jokes which formed such a popular part of his regular columns in the newspaper.
