In a shameless attempt to bribe racing fans to vote for him, top jockey Robert 'Choc' Thornton is offering to chop off his shoulder-length crowning glory if he gets the most votes in the 'Hot Pants' competition in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund.
Last month, Eclipse Magazine launched the competition asking people to vote to win a personally-signed pair of jodhpurs from either Jamie Spencer, Richard Johnson or 'Choc' Thornton. The jockey with the most votes will be declared to have the 'hottest pants' in the fun prize draw...
Unable to refrain from doing his utmost to win even a fun competition such as this, Mr Thornton ('Chocolate' to his friends) has now embarked on a sensational campaign to win the most votes.
Each vote requires a minimum £2 donation to be made to the Injured Jockeys Fund in order to be entered, and Choc is determined to encourage voters to plump for him and raise a substantial sum for the charity. If he wins the most votes he will shave off his hair in mid-August.
"I am delighted to be supporting and raising money for the Injured Jockeys Fund in this unique competition organised by Eclipse Magazine," he said. "The IJF provides care, compassion and financial help to injured jockeys, ensuring a quality of life for them and their families.
"To boost the fundraising for them, I'm going all out to win this competition and will shave off all my treasured and much-primped mane of golden hair on TV if I top the poll by 15 August... so please folks, get VOTING!"
