AP McCoy, 18 times Champion Jumps Jockey, and his wife Chanelle could have another winner in the family following the birth of their second child, AP (Archie Peader) McCoy in the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford at 8pm on Monday 5th August.
The new arrival, who weighed in at over six pounds, will be joining his five-year-old sister Eve who’s already a keen racing and riding fan.
The new ‘AP’ will do well to exceed his father’s record in the saddle with the Champion on target to ride his 4,000th winner later this season. McCoy, who has been Champion more times than any jump jockey in history, is already leading the field for his 19th Championship success with 60 wins for the season, 24 more than his nearest rival.
Thankfully, the new arrival hasn’t result in McCoy missing any winning rides as there’s no jump racing scheduled in Britain this week.
Rod Street, Chief Executive of Great British Racing, commented: “We’re really delighted for Tony, Chanelle and his family, but I dare say some of the younger jockeys might be a little anxious at the thought of a new AP in the saddle.”
