Three-year-olds and upwards. Six furlongs. First run 1840 The first official staging of the Stewards’ Cup took place in 1840 but the name actually dates back to 1834 when the senior of the two stewards officiating at Goodwood awarded a cup worth about £100 to any race of his choosing.
