Gold medal winning Team GB athlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson and jockey Hayley Turner have teamed up to create an oat bar tailored to their nutritional needs as professional athletes and to aid them in maintaining the high fitness levels required for in both athletics and horseracing.

Drawing comparison between their diets and training, the pair have developed the ‘Champion Oat Bar’ highlighting the importance of fuelling their body correctly when competing on the track.

Off the back of participating in Celebrity Great British Bake Off in March, QIPCO British Champions Series ambassador Johnson-Thompson was joined by Turner, alongside nutritional brand Tribe, to develop a bar that fits in with their dietary requirements and helps them to compete at the highest level of their respective sports.

Johnson-Thompson trains for seven disciplines six days a week while Turner trains daily and can compete in up to seven races a day, requiring both athletes to fuel their bodies regularly and often while on the go. Despite the differences in physique – Johnson-Thompson is 6ft and Turner is 5ft 3 – the pair discovered similarities between their diets and require energy releasing snacks for fuel and recovery.

The pair have produced a delicious apple and cinnamon flavoured oat bar, which is vegan, gluten and dairy free, high in slow release energy and containing 60% less sugar than competitors.

The bar will be available for free to racegoers on QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 19th October.
