In a dreamy week of haute couture, the following two collections bring alive and glamorise the magical world of enchanted forests and dark fairy tales.

ZIAD NAKAD – Titled ‘The Snow Crystal Forest’

Ziad Nakad’s romantic vision is of a season in magic colours where white predominates.

White appears as cold as snow that gradually heats up when velvet, feathers, tulle and lace are interwoven through embroideries.

Sequins emulate snow flakes…

…and frost on branches in the forest.

Numerous cut-outs on the back and shoulders reveal a bewitching femininity.

Colour palette includes various shades of blue ranging from dark midnight to dusky blue.

Green and red enriches the colours of this magical forest.

Our choices for the Christmas festive racedays are:

Long sleeved blue velvet midi dress has a Slavic charm. Wear with boots for those chilly racedays and festive evenings.

Golden embellished knee length structured dress with velvet belt. With its high neckline and long sleeves wear thermals underneath to keep warm and still show off this gorgeous dress when outside.

EWA MINGE – Titled ‘Fairy Tale’

Ewa Minge, one of Poland’s most well known fashion designers, is inspired by old fairy tales plus the culture, music and traditions of the nomadic Roma people.

The collection ranges from feminine flowing dresses to tough rock chic ensembles.

Fabrics include patterned silks…

…and hand woven mohair.

Beaded butterfly appliqués appear in the collection in honour of the Black Butterflies Charity which Minge founded. The charity supports people struggling with cancer. The butterfly appliqués were created by the ‘students’ of the Black Butterflies Foundation as part of the art-therapy.

Under the eye of the designer, women who fight against cancer have made “small works of art” from pearls. And as they say, “these butterflies helped us to pass this difficult time during treatment and transported us to another wonderful world where everything is possible”.

Menge also supports the Plus Size Super Models Program and included fuller figure models in her show as she creates for all women and beauty does not have sizes.

Our choices for the winter racedays:

Maxi sheepskin coat adorned with colourful appliqués keeps that winter chill away and still looks glamorous for Christmas and the Cheltenham Festival racedays. The warmth of the coat allows the wearer to don a pretty floral dress underneath when visiting the restaurants and festivities indoors.

Winter blues has a new and upbeat meaning with this brocade embellished gold jacket. The lavishly ornate dress will look great worn with thick woollen tights and long boots.
