Glorious Goodwood is approaching and hopefully the glorious sunshine too.

This is a racing event where gentlemen traditionally don a cool linen suit and a panama hat. The wearing of a linen suit is not obligatory but the following dress codes are:

  • Richmond Enclosure: a jacket with shirt and tie or cravat must be worn. Jeans, trainers, shorts and fancy dress are NOT permitted.
  • Gordon Enclosure: encouraged to wear a jacket and tie. Tailored shorts are allowed.
  • T-shirts, sleeveless tops, sports attire, shorts (except for tailored shorts), ripped/torn jeans and fancy dress are NOT permitted.
  • Lennox Enclosure: No formal dress code but fancy dress and sleeveless tops are NOT permitted.

Popular choices for the linen suit are a natural shade or a soft navy. Both are available and at affordable prices from British brand Samuel Windsor.

Single breasted suit jacket in natural or blue. The natural shade has contrasting brown horn effect buttons, whilst the blue jacket has matching blue buttons.  Price £85. This brand gives you the option of sleeve length short, regular or long.

Trousers Price £40. Also an option of leg length 27, 29, 31 and 33.

Since 2003, Samuel Windsor has offered great value on men’s handmade leather shoes and quintessential clothing. They say ‘Style has never been so affordable.’

Pale linen suits look great paired with shirts in most hues: the crisp clean look of a white shirt; an elegant tonal look with creams, ivory and beiges; a cool chic look with pastels or the statement look with bold brights.

This season we’re going with a cool blue and white shirt in striped cotton with narrow pointed collar from Remus Uomo. Price £59.95.
