Will snow ruin the day for lucky winners of Kayf Aramis Racing VIP Owners Badges?
Kayf Aramis is due to race at Haydock on Saturday 19th January. A ballot took place at Nigel Twiston-Davies' yard and the lucky winners who will be his Owners for a VIP day at the races are:
Bruce B, Angie B, Sarah P, Bill B, Sue C, James D, Barry C and Dave O.
Unfortunately… it turns out they could be the shortest owners in racing, with heavy snow now forecast and the meeting in jeopardy… ¨
Young Zayfire Aramis was less than impressed with the gallops being frozen over and having to walk up and down the lane for his exercise. As the others had all gone on ahead, he showed the same stuborn streak that his uncle Kayf has and flatly refused to go! Poor Jamie, who rides him, had the indignity of having me lead him up the road to rejoin the others. All the Aramis family know who 'mum' is! Kaylif Aramis, full brother to Kayf, owned by Nigel, gave me a neigh when he saw me and always enjoys his apples.
Don’t forget our Club Open Morning is on Saturday 26th January. You can find out more details on the website kayfaramisracing.com.
The unusual account of the birth of Cheltenham Festival Winner KAYF ARAMIS
A cowshed may not sound like the most likely place to keep a mare about to give birth … but the farmer had cleaned it out, painted it white with black beams. I put rubber mats on the earth floor covered with copious amounts of straw – so we turned it into a luxury stable! He then pulled his old caravan next to it and we rigged up a camera so I could watch them at night. Three weeks I spent in that caravan waiting for Ara’s first foal, four months pregnant too!
Finally, at 9.30am on Saturday morning, when my husband, the farmer and his family were all there to watch (pictured top), out came little Kayfi, all scrunched up, with one ear bent back. He was on his feet quite quickly and later on that day enjoyed a run around the paddock with his dam.
