This year the theme is Superhero Family all our young racegoers are encouraged to dress as their favorite superhero and fly, transform or whatever-your-power-may-be your way to Warwick! Activities include: a climbing wall and high ropes course, the Derby Horse Hoppers, Mr Twister and his magic show, juggling workshop and balloon modelling, face-painting, performances from the fantastic Top Bananas and lots, lots more. What’s more, meet the superheroes themselves on the day with a special meet and greet by Superwoman, Superman, Batwoman and Batman, no less.

MARKET RASEN RACECOURSE – The Mansionbet 1940s Family Extravaganza
A day to remember the part that Lincolnshire played in the Second World War, including the county’s setting as the ‘Home of the RAF’, the work of the Home Guard and the importance of agriculture and ‘Digging For Victory’ during the conflict. As well as exciting jump racing, you will be able to look over vintage vehicles, browse the trade stands, watch re-enactment displays, take part in best dressed competitions and listen to live music. There will be bunting, colour and street jive dancing to represent the VE Day celebrations which took place on 8th May 1945 as fighting in Europe finally came to an end. The racecourse is working with AGE UK, the racecourse’s charity of the year from June 2019, and Lincolnshire museums and trusts to deliver this 1940s day.

Celebrating the Roodee’s historical roots and location within the Roman city of Chester. Did you know, Chester Racecourse, established in 1539, is the oldest racecourse still in use in the UK, if not the world! Expect plenty of entertainment on the Open Course in addition to the seven races during the afternoon, including chariot and jousting displays. Roman foot soldiers will be on hand to pose for photos and teach youngsters some fascinating facts about their Cestrian ancestors.

Karen can usually be found glued to her computer or at the stables. Having edited several national magazines she co-founded Eclipse Magazine in 2008 after realising that many of her friends were nervous about going racing due to lack of information – what to wear, how to bet etc.
