South Africa: Durbanville Racecourse has a magnificent day planned for Saturday 9th March.
Kenilworth Racing, in association with Klawervlei Stud have teamed up for an action packed day of horseracing.
But what would a beautiful country course be like without the much loved addition of Market @ The Barn? This joint venture was a great success last year, with families, including the young and old enjoying a day out at the races. There is always something on offer – great retail therapy, kids’ entertainment, live music and the most importantly, Thoroughbreds on the track.
This year, in recognition of the wonderful staff that play an important role in the day to day care of our horses and the industry, Klawervlei Stud, in association with Betting World, have sponsored a race day to include a Seven-A-Side soccer tournament. Eric Sands and Snaith Racing, along with various stud farms have drafted their teams and the games will take place from 10am until just before racing kicks off. The stud farms and their staff jumped at the opportunity to get off the farm and enjoy a day at the races – a novelty for them as they don’t get to see the end product in action.
The Teams participating are:
- Klawervlei Stud
- Drakenstein Stud
- Lammerskraal Stud
- Sandown Stud
- Ridgemont Highlands Stud
- Maine Chance Stud
- Klipdrift Stud
- Snaith Racing
- Sands Racing
- Agri Expo
The winning team will go home with a R10 000 prize, sponsored by BettingWorld.
Entrance is free, and gates open at 10am. For more information on this and upcoming events go to www.itsarush.co.za

Karen can usually be found glued to her computer or at the stables. Having edited several national magazines she co-founded Eclipse Magazine in 2008 after realising that many of her friends were nervous about going racing due to lack of information – what to wear, how to bet etc.
She absolutely loves her job (how many people can say that?!) and is truly grateful to all supporters of and contributors to Eclipse Magazine.
If you are reading this she would like to say THANK YOU! (And please spread the word about Eclipse…!!)
